Dr Mike Allen
New Zealand Special Envoy for Energy and Executive Director, Geothermal New Zealand
With a background in engineering, Mike Allen spent over 25 years with GENZL involved in the geothermal industry undertaking project developments in Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Mediterranean.
He acts in an advisory role to the IFC (private sector arm of the World Bank) as they develop their international geothermal strategy and explore investment opportunities.
He is currently acting for the Government of Montserrat as they establish an exploratory drilling program to explore the island’s geothermal potential.
He is currently executive director of the Geothermal New Zealand initiative promoting a collaborative approach towards extended opportunities in international geothermal markets.
In January 2013 he was appointed Special Envoy for Renewable Energy on behalf of the New Zealand Government.
