Energy Roadmaps and Investment

Many Pacific countries have developed energy sector ‘roadmaps’ or strategies that present country specific information, including the availability of energy resources, current and future energy use, distribution and transmission constraints, proposed improvements, policies and targets, and regulatory issues.

Energy roadmaps and investment plans can provide a robust framework for donors and partners to coordinate their development efforts in the energy sector. Roadmaps help to ensure that small-scale ad hoc projects are not carried out in isolation, or without the support to see them well maintained, as was sometimes a problem in the past.

The roadmaps will be presented by Pacific island countries in the morning plenary sessions of the Summit and the Energy Investment Showcase in the afternoon will ensure that investment in tangible projects will allow these targets and plans to be achieved.
