Senior Adviser on Energy Matters Representing Development Commissioner Piebalgs
As the Senior Adviser on Energy, Mr Bensarsa provides strategic advice to the Cabinet of the Commissioner for Development, the Director-General and the management of DG Development and Cooperation – EuropeAid on the challenges of energy both at EU and international levels.
He has an extensive background in energy and its international facets. Until 2010, he was Head of the Task Force on Energy Security within the former External Relations department of the European Commission.
Since then he has been in charge of the design and implementation of the EU energy strategy in the context of its Development policy, as well as the EU’s contribution to the global Sustainable Energy for All initiative.
