Prime Minister, The Kingdom of Tonga

Lord Tu’ivakan-o is the current Prime Minister of Tonga.

He became Prime Minister in 2010 and it was under his leadership that Tonga became a founding member of the Polynesian Leaders Group in 2011, a regional grouping aiming to cooperate on a range of issues including culture, education, climate change and trade and investment.

Previously, Lord Tu’ivakan-o served as Speaker for the Tongan Legislative Assembly between 2002 and 2004 and was appointed to Cabinet in 2005. Prior to his political career, Lord Tu’ivakan-o taught at Tonga High School and trained in youth development in Malaysia and Singapore in 1980.
